A dedicated VMC shop, not a general jobbing house

Shree Lakshmi Engineering has machined precision components in Chennai since 2004. Our core work is valve bodies, hydraulic manifolds and hose fittings, and automotive and general engineering components — the kind of made-to-print parts where dimensional accuracy and material traceability decide whether the part ships. We run four VMCs and five CNC turning centres in-house, and we are candid about what we subcontract, because our export customers audit their suppliers.

Turned features are produced on five FANUC CNC turning centres (to Ø320 mm × 500 mm). Simultaneous 5-axis work is routed to qualified subcontract partners under our ISO 9001:2015 system — we keep the programming, inspection and delivery.

Tolerance & inspection

  • ±0.005 mm on selected features; ±0.02 mm general production tolerance.
  • Surface finish from Ra 0.2 µm, depending on material and feature.
  • In-house Mitutoyo height gauges, micrometers and calipers; Electronica 2D height master (to 1 m).
  • Full CMM certification via an external NABL-accredited laboratory when the drawing requires it.
  • First-article inspection reports on request.

Frequently asked questions

What size components can you machine?

Our four VMCs offer an X 800 × Y 500 × Z 500–510 mm envelope, 24–30 tool pockets, and a 200 mm 4th-axis rotary table on every machine.

Do you offer 4th-axis and 5-axis?

Yes to 4th-axis in-house on every VMC. Simultaneous 5-axis is delivered through qualified subcontract partners under our ISO 9001:2015 system — we retain programming, inspection and delivery.

What tolerances can you hold?

±0.005 mm on selected features and ±0.02 mm (20 µm) as a general production tolerance, with finish from Ra 0.2 µm.

How is quality verified?

In-house Mitutoyo instruments and a 2D height master, plus full CMM certification via an external NABL-accredited laboratory. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Do you export?

Yes — we are an Export Oriented Unit and have supplied a leading UK valve manufacturer since 2019.
